Make self-Care a habit – Practice what you preach today

Practice what you preach day

I am so ready for a practice what I preach day.  My goal for tomorrow is to have a practice what I preach day, things to be included:

Start writing in my own ‘Make self-care a habit’ journal. Feels a bit like cheating as the journal alone ticks off so many boxes including, gratitude, forgiveness, goals, habits and breathing.

Get out in nature.

Meditation.

Get out in nature

I started the day with a beautiful walk in nature. Being in nature can reduce feelings of fear, anger and stress. Being in nature can promote pleasant feelings and emotions. Physically, being in nature can reduce stress hormones, heart rate, and
muscle tension.
Nature inspires feelings that connects us to our environment and
each other.

Meditation

I have still to master the art of silent meditation, I get bored.  I listen to guided meditations.  Just now I am using the tapping solution app.  It has some beautiful ATM’s, active transformational meditations which are designed so you can listen while driving, washing the dishes or relaxing. I chose to relax and listen to, Manifest positive change: an affirmation and visualisation journey.  This also ticked off my affirmations for the day.  I felt relaxed and energised afterwards.

Journaling

I do like a journal. I love all my journals, but was super excited to start the journal I have created.  It really is a good read. Informative and inspiring.  I started with trying to remember my dream last night, but nothing came to me, so I know I need to practice the method of remembering. I went on and filled out my gratitude and forgiveness. That part is good for the soul. Then my goal, which was to have my practice what I preach day. I practiced a bit of box breathing and tried alternate nostril breathing.  I skipped the part on future self for today.  I ticked 8 out of 10 boxes, so I was happy with that.

Breathing

Focussed breathing, promotes well-being and happiness, strengthens the immune system, cleanses the lungs, brings greater clarity to the brain, can be done anywhere and costs nothing.

How to box breathe
• Breathe in for four seconds.
• Hold it for four seconds.
• Breathe out for four seconds.
• Hold it for four seconds

Have yourself a practice what I preach day

I created the journal as much for myself as for anyone else. The whole point of me starting my blog was to write about what I am learning. To teach others and to be accountable myself. I created the journal to include all the things I have learned so far, things that are important and beneficial for our overall well-being as human beings living in a human doing society.  I felt very relaxed and accomplished after my practice what I preach day. I was also aware that a practice what I preach day should be incorporated into every day, and so I am now thinking of ways to fit it all into a shorter amount of time.  Something along the lines of a 60 minute self care routine, for the days when we maybe don’t have all day to relax, meditate and wander through the day.

Go have yourself a practice what I preach day, journal, breathe, meditate, get out in nature, set goals, have fun.
