How to figure out what you want

What do you want?  So that is the question.  What if you have absolutely no idea what you want.  I asked myself what I wanted and told myself I needed to come up with an answer, well my answer was a financial goal, because I had no idea what I actually wanted.  I  did have a realisation.  In order to answer the question I had to figure out what I loved, see my post on  Find what you love what brings me joy and happiness and peace.  So I imagined my financial goal being realised and asked myself how do I want to spend my time if money is of no consequence?

I have always wanted to find a job I love.  A rewarding job where I can help others.  I have always wanted to be self-employed.  I have also always told myself I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.  That statement creates a whole new post.  Read post, What are you telling yourself?  I made time to explore different hobbies, gel nails, hula hooping, reiki, oil and acrylic painting, reading, journaling, exercise, kayaking, relaxation techniques and self-care.  I have had many jobs and completed many courses and qualifications.

What I have realised is that I love to learn new things.  I love to journal and write about what I am learning.  I love to read.  I have always loved reading, in the past I would have read absolutely anything that I could lay my hands on.  I am now more selective in what I am reading and I read purposefully to learn new skills and ideas.  I am learning wee secrets and want to share them.  I love learning new things about the brain, the mind, body and soul, human potential, nutrition, wellbeing, self-care, hygge, reiki, creating good habits, gratitude, forgiveness, desire, goal setting, the list is endless.  Jim kwik says “when you teach, you get to learn it twice”.  That is so very true for me.  When I learn with the intention of teaching in mind I have more focus and purpose.

Go figure it out, it does not matter how long it takes, have fun along the way and figure out what you want.

  1. What do you want – really think about that question.
  2. Find what you love.
  3. Incorporate what you want with what you love.
  4. Ask yourself again, and again.  What do you really want?
  5. Take some action, even if it is the smallest step.
